The East Harlem Neighborhood Plan has been released! After almost 10 months of working on a community based plan to inform a proposed rezoning of the neighborhood, Community Voices Heard, the City Council Speaker, the Manhattan Borough President, and Manhattan Community Board 11 are excited to step into the next phase of our work around affordable housing development, public housing improvements, and job creation.
TRULY AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Everyone should have access to safe, affordable housing - housing is a human right. CVH works to create and preserve affordable housing, including public and subsidized housing. We work to advance communities that allow for people to live in the neighborhood of their choosing without discrimination.

Many of my Ossining neighbors are struggling to keep up with the rising cost of housing here.
The lack of decent affordable housing is a concern throughout Westchester County, but here in Ossining the situation has become critical for families making less than $50,000 a year. Limited housing opportunities affect everyone: the elderly, struggling to survive on a fixed income; young people just entering the work force; and those of us still struggling to bounce back from the 2008 recession.

East Harlem resident Raymond Tirado fears the zoning changes will make it difficult for him to stay in East Harlem after he retires. He asked the community board to vote against them in an upcoming meeting.
