I have lived in my community of East Harlem for 34 years. I joined CVH on September 14, 2006. I have been on 2 sustainable communities committees and continuously marched for change in the fight for truly afforadble housing. I' ve worked on the East Harlem niegborhood plan as well. Thus far, it has been an uphill battle to make change in our community. We have marched against violence to put the guns down with the support of council members on numerous occasions. The positive changes that I have seen in my community is through people power. Like, participatory budgeting, which gives us the opportunity to spend capital money every year on community improvements, school improvements, senior improvements, library & gardens too. Power is very important to reach politicians to inform them of housing issues and to mold issues.
