Why are you a CVH member?

I was at a community event where I met the organizer for Newburgh at the time. We started talking, and she told me about organizing – I didn't know what that was at first. That one conversation lead to me to be a part of CVH to this day.

I was drawn to CVH when I heard about the welfare campaign. It inspired me to want to work alongside women to build them up.

CVH also helped me navigate housing rights and advocate for myself. I learned how to empower others by bringing legal services that I met through CVH to my own events to help tenants understand their rights.

OUR MISSION

Community Voices Heard (CVH) is a Black and brown-led, power-building organization committed to fighting for dignity for people with low incomes and all New Yorkers. Guided by members, we center women’s voices and create unity to win financial security, a fully participatory democracy, and truly affordable homes for every New Yorker. CVH leads community organizing across the state because we will only achieve an equitable New York when we organize and fight together.
